Explorer

The Explorer is a battery operated portable GC with photoionization (PID) and electron capture (ECD) detectors. Explorer’s analytical engine is composed of a built-in three-column configuration with a user-selectable isothermal oven for fast GC analysis for a wide variety of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with a miniaturized PID/ECD dual detection system. Previously sold under the Voyager name by PhotoVac, which was acquired by INFICON in 2011.

Known Interferents/Inhibitors
PID is non-specific to all organic compounds; ECD responds to electron capture functional groups (e.g. halogen and nitro-containing). Dual gas chromatographs provide complementary retention information to minimize false positive detections.
