Ceeker
Current system is based on the excitation/emission profile of DPA, a spore-specific compound. As such, the current design does not discriminate among spores produced by different microbial species (i.e., cannot discriminate B. anthracis from B. thuringiensis). However, excitation and emission profiles employed for identification may be expanded beyond the DPA signature to detect other microbes, including non-spore formers. The system is hand-held and designed for use by first responders.
