VeroTect

The VeroTect is a real-time, biodetector that has the ability to discriminate between a biological organism and a non-biological particle. The VeroTect combines a fluorescence measurement technique based on 280 nm excitation to specifically target the amino-acid Tryptophan with Biral’s ASAS (Aerosol Size and Shape) technology to provide early warning of bioaerosol clouds. The ASAS technology samples the ambient air and characterizes the aerosol particles in terms of their size, shape, and concentration. The ASAS system uses a 1 LPM flow rate and can detect particles from 0.5 to 15 micron with a size resolution of 0.5 micron. The maximum particle throughput is 20,000 particles per second. The Fluorescence portion of the system uses a 2 LPM flow rate and includes two fluorescence emission channels.

The VeroWarn detection software is used in all of Biral’s biodetectors. Based on a common algorithm core, VeroWarn provides a range yes/no audible or visual alerts. The VeroTect can be used as a standalone point detector, as a part of a networked detector system, or as the bio instrument in a CBRN detection suite.
