Protective gloves are typically used as outer gloves worn over a primary protective garment, or as “stand-alone” protective equipment. The two primary protective objectives are threat material resistance, and physical protection (dexterity, anti-static). CBRNE Tech Index does not include all suppliers of common, less protective gloves such as nitrile and latex. Nitrile gloves are routinely used as PPE when additional engineering and ventilation controls are used. Virtually all types of nitrile and latex gloves both powdered and powder-free are interchangeable performance wise. Nitrile is preferred as it is more chemically resistant than latex. Nitrile gloves can also be doubled-up and used for up to five minutes when handling known low concentrations of WMD chemical materials.
