AP2C

The AP2C is a portable chemical contamination control device used to detect chemical agents G (Sarin, Tabun, Soman, etc.), VX and HD (Mustard Gas) in vapors and aerosols. The AP2C detects the atomic emission spectra of phosphorus (present in G, V agents) and/or sulfur (present in HD, V agents). The AP2C’s high sensitivity and fast response time make it especially suitable for monitoring residual contamination following a decontamination procedure.

Tested For Chemical Agents
Non-specific detection of all G and H agents, based on phosphorus and sulfur detection: VX, VS, VN, VE, VG, H, HD, HDL, HL, HT
Tested For ITF-25 TIC/TIMs
Any chemical that contains target element (P or S) will produce a response.
Other Chemical Targets
Any chemical that contains target element (P or S) will produce a response.
Customize For New Targets
Target elements (P and S) are fixed; users cannot program the unit to detect new elements.

Known Interferents/Inhibitors
The detection process can be made more selective and sensitive by recognizing and processing the signals from two lines (one peak and one toe) from the sulfur spectrum. These lines have been specifically selected to avoid any confusion. This detection principle overcomes the problems of changes in background noise and many interferents. Testing at ECBC found that the product is susceptible to false positives in the presence of engine exhausts and in smoky environments.
Start Up Time (From Cold Start To Sample Ready)
< 2 minutes if > 0°C; Up to 15 minutes if < 0°C
Response Time (Sample Application To Output)
2 seconds
Total Run Time

Alarm Capability
An alarm control can be used in place of the battery tray resulting in the APACC model. This alarm can be used remotely, up to 1,000 m. A red indicator light is the visual alarm and a buzzer is the audible alarm.
Software Control
Various interference filters are placed successively in front of a photocell, which measures the luminous emitting variations of the flame. The electrical signal from the photocell is processed in real time by a micro controller board.
Other Operational Parameters
The AP2C is sensitive TRO SO2 and should not be placed close to the end of vehicle exhaust pipes.
