BioFlash-E System

The BioFlash-E™ biological detector combines aerosol sampling and biological identification. The instrument is lightweight and ruggedized and includes enlarged, sealed pushbuttons and an expansive display screen, allowing for easy set-up and decontamination while wearing Personal Protective Equipment. The system uses the proprietary CANARY® (Cellular Analysis and Notification of Antigen Risks and Yield) detection technology. The CANARY® system utilizes B lymphocyte cells that have been modified to express target specific antibodies on their cell surfaces, as well as the bioluminescent protein Aequorin. Detection is made when the aequorin emits light when exposed by the increased intracellular calcium levels that occurs when the antibody interacts with its target. The BioFlash-E™ utilizes disposable collection/assay discs (BioDisc) that allow automatic collection and identification of up to 21 biological agents.

Theoretically, that genomic sequence can be inserted into the murine (mouse) cell line and subsequently expressed onto the membrane of the cell rendering the cells with binding specificity toward the agent-of-interest.
